ENTITO EMAA COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION

Empowering and equiping Maa women

Introduction

Entito Emaa Community CBO was founded as a result of the numerous challenges the Masai girl Child goes through and the extreme marginalization in the society including but not limited to female genital mutilation, early forced marriages and limited access to education. Girls in the Maa Communities are never considered of equal importance as boys hence the girl child is by design forced to take care of all manual chores such as building the family house, cooking, cleaning, fetching water kilometers away, firewood, taking care of children and livestock. Unfortunately, because the mothers are not educated and untrained, it becomes impossible to change future generation which forms a recipe for poverty and all kinds of challenges in the society.

Our Vision

Women are the back born of families and by empowering and uplifting them, we envision a world free of poverty and sustainable in equal measure.

Our Mission

To empower and equip women with relevant practical tools and life skills through community-based training to enable them work their way out of poverty, care for their families, strengthen their communities and actively involved in conservation efforts in their immediate eco-system.

Why The Girl Child:

Training/educating a girl child is educating a nation….
It’s a known fact that the foundation of every home is the woman. The peace, the wellbeing, economic management and the education of the family depends on her to a very large extent. All the activities that will help the family and channel it towards prosperity rest on her shoulder. If she is well cultured, peaceful and trained it will certainly reflect in her home. There will be peace, love, and prosperity reflecting in the home, but the reverse will be the case if she is uneducated/trained and careless in handling the affairs of the home.

Importance of Educating/Training Maa Girl Child

The very success of the family, home, community and the entire nation depended on her. For into her hands is committed the future and existence of the entire human race.

2. Educating Maa girl child will enable her deal with the common injustices committed against girlchild such as rape, inequalities, and domestic violence

3. Educating the girl child will drastically reduce child marriages. If the girls are provided with training, it will delay the marriages hence giving them a chance to be of the appropriate adult age to make own decisions regarding marriage and at the same time equipped with skills acquired from training to make a decent living

4. Reduce human trafficking. Third world countries are most targeted for human trafficking, more so the target is untrained young women and girls being promised of better life abroad only to be sold into prostitution and drugs. Providing training to young women at community level will enable the women to be creative and resourceful at home
